Description

Nintendo’s acclaimed turn-based strategy title, Fire Emblem Engage, has received a significant content update alongside the highly anticipated Wave 2 Expansion Pass DLC.

Announced during the February 2023 Nintendo Direct Showcase, the update and upcoming downloadable content mark a major milestone in the evolving support for this Nintendo Switch exclusive. Fire Emblem Engage, developed by Intelligent Systems and launched in January 2023 for the Nintendo Switch, has continued to captivate players with its rich blend of tactical gameplay and beloved characters from the Fire Emblem series’ storied history.

The Expansion Pass, which debuted at launch, brings a seasonal cadence of post-release content aimed at expanding the experience for both franchise veterans and newcomers. The newly released Wave 2—available as of February 8, 2023—introduces fan-favorite Emblems Hector (Emblem of Strength), Soren (Emblem of Acumen), and Camilla (Emblem of Revelation) as recruitable allies.

These notable characters bring distinct tactical abilities to the roster, deepening player customization and strategic options in combat.

Nintendo has confirmed that further waves are on the horizon: Wave 3 will add even more iconic figures, including Chrom and Robin (Emblem of Bonds) as well as Veronica (Emblem of Heroes), each requiring players to complete special in-game tasks to unlock their powers. Looking ahead, Wave 4 is set to launch a brand-new narrative arc titled 'Fell Xenologue.' This storyline promises to take the protagonist Alear and their allies on an entirely new adventure into an unexplored world, introducing fresh challenges and adversaries for players to overcome. To complement the second wave of expansion content, Fire Emblem Engage has been updated to Version 1.2.0.

According to Nintendo’s official support page, this version adds compatibility with Wave 2 of the Expansion Pass and enhances the core experience with new features and quality-of-life improvements.

Notable updates include access to the "Recreation" feature in areas such as the pool, orchard, and stable on the Somniel from Chapter 8 onward.

Additionally, the patch addresses and resolves several issues within Relay Trials, such as display problems when randomizing takeover data, ensuring a smoother gameplay experience. Since its debut, Fire Emblem Engage has consistently ranked among the top titles on the Nintendo Switch eShop, thanks to its polished mechanics, deep strategic gameplay, and consistent delivery of new content via the Expansion Pass.

With multiple waves of DLC scheduled and a new storyline on the horizon, Intelligent Systems and Nintendo are demonstrating a sustained commitment to enriching Fire Emblem Engage’s legacy for years to come. Fire Emblem Engage and its Expansion Pass content, including the newly released Wave 2 and Version 1.2.0 update, are available digitally on the Nintendo eShop for all Nintendo Switch players.
