Switch 2 Price Hike: Nintendo Raises Console and Switch Online Prices Ahead of 2026 Rollout

Nintendo has confirmed a global price increase for its next-generation hardware, commonly referred to as the Switch 2, and announced a separate price revision for Nintendo Switch Online memberships in Japan.

The hardware price adjustments take effect in Japan on 25 May 2026 and in western markets on 1 September 2026, while Nintendo Switch Online subscription changes in Japan are scheduled for 1 July 2026.

Nintendo cited "changes in market conditions" and the "global business outlook" as the reasons for the adjustments.

Nintendo issued an apology alongside the announcement, stating that the company regretted the impact the price revisions may have on customers and stakeholders and expressed appreciation for users' understanding.

In other words, Nintendo acknowledged the burden these changes may place on consumers and thanked them for their patience.

New hardware pricing (reported by Nintendo):

- Japan: Switch 2 rising from ¥49,980 to ¥59,980; Switch OLED Model from ¥37,980 to ¥47,980; Nintendo Switch from ¥32,978 to ¥43,980; Switch Lite from ¥21,978 to ¥29,980.

- United States: Switch 2 rising from $449.99 to $499.99.

- Canada: Switch 2 rising from $629.99 to $679.99.

- Europe: Switch 2 rising from €469.99 to €499.99.

Nintendo Switch Online price adjustments in Japan (effective 1 July 2026):

- Individual 1 month: ¥306 → ¥400

- Individual 3 months: ¥815 → ¥1,000

- Individual 12 months: ¥2,400 → ¥3,000

- Family 12 months: ¥4,500 → ¥5,800

- Individual Expansion Pack 12 months: ¥4,900 → ¥5,900

- Family Expansion Pack 12 months: ¥8,900 → ¥9,900

Nintendo also confirmed it will apply pricing changes soon in South Korea but has not provided specific rates or timings.
