Nintendo is marking Super Mario’s 40th anniversary with an expansive lineup of events, game releases, and special promotions for MAR10 Day 2026.
This annual celebration of Mario and his world has become one of the gaming industry’s most iconic traditions.
In 2026, Nintendo is partnering with Illumination and global retailers to deliver fans a uniquely memorable MAR10 Day that combines movie premieres, game launches, collectibles, and unforgettable fan experiences. A highlight of the celebration is the highly anticipated debut of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, created in collaboration with Illumination.
The movie’s latest trailer dropped as part of Nintendo's official MAR10 Day news, generating excitement ahead of its nationwide theatrical release on April 1, 2026.
Fans are encouraged to access the Nintendo Today! app, a free smart device application, where daily logins unlock collectible digital cards inspired by the film.
From April 1, app users can check in at participating theaters to access exclusive content, such as a personalized digital photo frame marking the date and location of the screening. Nintendo also revealed fresh content for its next-generation platform, Nintendo Switch 2.
New trailers were released for "Super Mario Bros.
Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park," which launches March 26, as well as for "Yoshi and the Mysterious Book," slated for release on May 21.
Fans can gear up for the arrival of the "Talking Flower" companion on March 12.
These announcements underscore Nintendo’s dedication to expanding the Mario universe with innovative titles tailored to both longtime fans and newcomers, further cementing the legacy of one of gaming’s most beloved franchises. LEGO enthusiasts are not left out, as the LEGO Group introduced the Luigi & Mach 8 (72050) set — a sophisticated, adult-oriented addition to the LEGO Mario Kart series.
Featuring 2,234 pieces, this set includes a fully articulated Luigi figure in the Mach 8 kart, and pairs seamlessly with the previously released Mario & Standard Kart set.
The Luigi & Mach 8 set is available for pre-order starting on MAR10 Day, March 10, 2026. Nintendo is offering a variety of special deals through both digital and brick-and-mortar outlets.
Discounts on select Super Mario games are available at participating retailers and on the Nintendo eShop through March 15.
Additionally, My Nintendo members can earn Platinum Points by engaging with the Nintendo Today! app and by participating in special events. For Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers, MAR10 Day is also bringing classic titles to the platform.
As of today, Mario vs.
Donkey Kong (Game Boy Advance), Mario Clash, and Mario’s Tennis (Virtual Boy) are accessible to members.
The Nintendo Music service received a notable update too, including the addition of the Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury soundtrack. Competitive players can participate in the 52nd Maximus Cup for Tetris 99, taking place from April 3 to April 6 and themed after Super Mario Galaxy.
Achieving 100 event points unlocks a limited-time in-game theme. To make the MAR10 Day experience even more immersive, Nintendo is hosting in-person events at Nintendo New York and Nintendo San Francisco, including a Mario Tennis Fever doubles tournament.
Fans nationwide can also visit select Target and Walmart stores throughout April for game demos and giveaways.
Details for all in-person and digital events can be found on the official Mario website. Universal Studios Hollywood is joining the festivities with Universal Fan Fest Nights at Super Nintendo World, running from April 23 to May 16.
These after-hours events will feature special challenges, five distinct colored Yoshis, and unique photo opportunities in celebration of Mario’s 40th anniversary.
