The Project Satellaview release adapts all four episodes of the original 1996 broadcast into one playable package and includes full casting credits and two MSU-1 variants for distribution.
Background: the Satellaview was a broadcast add-on for Nintendo's Super Famicom produced in partnership with St. Giga in the mid-1990s.
It enabled timed downloads of games and audio over satellite; several titles used “SoundLink” technology to deliver live or pre-broadcast voice and music unique to the service.
BS Super Mario USA — a score-attack reinterpretation of Super Mario Bros. 2 (released in Japan as Super Mario USA) — was distributed across four episodes in 1996 and originally featured Japanese voice broadcasts tied to that schedule.
What’s included in the new release: the Project Satellaview team, led on audio by voice director SinCama and programming work by Luigi Blood, has consolidated the four Satellaview episodes into a single MSU-1 ROM.
The release features a newly recorded English cast and two MSU-1 builds: one retaining the original soundtrack and a second variant intended for streamers to reduce the risk of copyright claims.
The team offers the ROM for download from the Project Satellaview website and notes that the file is intended for use with MSU-1–compatible emulators and flashcarts.
Project comments and status: Luigi Blood described the effort as part of a broader Project Satellaview initiative aimed at improving access to and restoration quality for Satellaview titles.
He said the BS Super Mario USA build demonstrates the project’s goals by delivering an episode sequence that preserves the intended experience in English.
Blood also confirmed that the ROM itself is complete and functional; a separate Japanese audio build is planned but requires clean audio sources for all four episodes before it can be finalized.
The team has asked anyone with verified clean audio recordings to contact them via Twitter/X or BlueSky to assist.
Cast: Steven Medina (Mario, Birdo Red, Clawgrip); Santiago Vargas (Luigi, Birdo Green); Elliott Posadni (Princess Peach); Patrick Wallace (Commander); Ryan J.
Hutchins (Toad, Birdo Pink); Emi Mastey (Narrator, Mary); Martin Gustavsson (Mouser); Thomas E.
Thomas (King, Tryclyde); Tre'Vaughn Williams (Wart, Fryguy).
Additional voices include Kitty Kaboom, Ryan Redding, Loren Collins, Satarou Light, Scottpilgrimrules, and Vinny Vinesauce.
Availability and legal notes: the ROM is available now from Project Satellaview’s site.
As with all fan conversions of legacy broadcast content, users should be mindful of regional copyright and distribution rules when downloading and using ROMs.
This restoration represents one of the more prominent recent efforts to preserve and present Satellaview-only experiences for English-speaking audiences.
