Clear River Games will publish Toaplan Arcade Garage: Flying Fire Shark for Nintendo Switch and PS4 on August 29, 2026, the company announced.

The Western release follows the collection’s initial Japan launch in 2022 and aims to bring two seminal Toaplan shoot ’em ups—Flying Shark (Hishouzame) and its sequel Fire Shark—to a broader audience on both physical and digital storefronts, including the Nintendo eShop.

What’s included

The base digital collection includes multiple arcade revisions and regional variations:

- Flying Shark (Worldwide arcade version)

- Sky Shark (US arcade version)

- Hishouzame (JP arcade version)

- Fire Shark (Worldwide arcade version)

A paid DLC pack expands the roster with console ports and related Toaplan titles.

The DLC contents include NES and early console versions of Sky Shark and Fire Shark, several Wardner entries, and additional arcade releases.

Physical pre-orders, listed at £39.99 for Nintendo Switch and PS4 on Clear River Games’ web store, will include the DLC by default; purchasers of the digital edition will need to buy the DLC separately.

Additional features and freebies

The Western release adds accessibility and training options: a Super Easy Mode that supplies auto-bombing and extra lives for newcomers, and an Arcade Challenge Mode that segments the screen into smaller sections to help players practice 1-credit clears.

Clear River Games is also providing Toaplan’s 1991 arcade puzzle title Teki-Paki as a free download for owners of the collection, mirroring the approach used for Toaplan Arcade Garage: Kyukyoku Tiger-Heli earlier this year in the West.

Critical context

Nintendo Life reviewer Tom Massey gave the original Japanese compilation an 8/10, praising it as a valuable historical preservation of two influential shoot ’em ups while noting disappointment that home ports were excluded from the base package and locked behind DLC.

Clear River Games’ Western physical edition addresses that specific criticism by bundling the extra content for collectors who pre-order.

Release and availability

Toaplan Arcade Garage: Flying Fire Shark arrives on August 29, 2026 for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in both digital and physical formats.

Digital buyers can expect the base arcade compilation on the Nintendo eShop, with the optional DLC sold separately.

Physical editions are available to pre-order now from Clear River Games’ store at the announced price.
