Jixa Lady Tiger Brings Retro C64-Inspired Action to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC

Jixa Lady Tiger Brings Retro C64-Inspired Action to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC Indie developer Oscar Celestini is set to expand the reach of his cult hit, Jixa Lady Tiger, well beyond the PC platform, with plans for a crowdfunding campaign targeting releases on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and even classic systems like the Game Boy Advance and Mega Drive.

This ambitious multi-platform rollout reflects both the growing nostalgia for classic gaming aesthetics and the vibrancy of the current retro-inspired indie scene. First launched for PC, Jixa Lady Tiger enthralled fans with its authentic Commodore 64 (C64) look and playstyle, drawing clear inspiration from the late 1980s classic Vixen by Intelligent Design.

The game’s visual palette, CRT simulation filter, and retro mechanics serve as a loving homage to a formative era of video game history.

Priced at an accessible $4 on PC, with the option to pay more in support of development, the title quickly found favor among enthusiasts of old-school platformers and indie releases alike. "Jixa Lady Tiger is a heartfelt tribute to classic C64 games," explained developer Oscar Celestini.

He described the main character as a whip-wielding young female warrior with the power to transform into a tiger, blending action and transformation mechanics reminiscent of its 8-bit forebears.

This central motif refers directly to its inspiration, the 1988 game Vixen, which also featured a heroine with shape-shifting abilities. The game features four themed areas, each divided into three challenging sub-levels, culminating in climactic battles against four unique boss characters.

Additional retro touches include a password system that recalls old cartridge-based save methods, and a dynamic soundtrack composed by Simone Pietro Rincione, further enriching the authentic throwback experience. With the Kickstarter campaign set for launch, Celestini aims to secure funding to bring Jixa Lady Tiger to a broader audience.

If the campaign is successful, fans can expect digital downloads across major platforms—including the Nintendo Switch eShop, PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace, and Steam.

Uniquely, physical editions for the Game Boy Advance and Sega Mega Drive are also planned, capturing the attention of dedicated retro collectors. Jixa Lady Tiger’s expansion onto the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam underscores the continuing appeal of retro-style games and the enduring influence of the Commodore 64 era.

Celestini’s commitment to authentic visuals and gameplay mechanics has positioned the title as a standout example of indie creativity.

For those interested in experiencing a modern take on classic 8-bit action, the PC version is now available, and the forthcoming Kickstarter will be the gateway to broader platform availability.
