Nintendo Switch 2 Continues to Dominate Japanese Sales Charts, Led by Mario Kart World
For yet another consecutive week, the Nintendo Switch 2 asserts its dominance in the Japanese gaming market as reported by Famitsu, Japan’s trusted video game sales tracker.
Headlining the top 10 software sales is Mario Kart World, which recorded a robust 122,578 units sold between June 16th and June 22nd, 2024.
This impressive performance has propelled the title beyond the coveted one million unit milestone, with cumulative sales reaching 1,044,044 copies since launch.
Notably, this week also featured the successful debut of RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.
The remastered RPG established a strong presence across multiple platforms on its release week, securing four spots in the top 10.
The Switch version alone posted 21,146 new units, while the PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PlayStation 4 editions each enjoyed significant entries on the chart, reflecting robust multi-platform demand.
The enduring popularity of beloved Nintendo properties was also apparent.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, both offered in Nintendo Switch 2 Editions, maintained their positions among the bestsellers.
Elsewhere, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time continued its steady upward trend, bringing lifetime sales to 130,625, while Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma showed resilience among major competitors with 60,766 units sold overall.

Switch Lite and Switch OLED followed in second and third, illustrating Nintendo’s multi-tier console strategy remains effective.
Combined sales for original Switch models reached 12,769 units, outpacing PlayStation 5’s combined SKUs, which totaled 6,006 during the same period.
Microsoft's Xbox Series X and S consoles once again trailed the top performers, reflective of their historically modest presence in the Japanese market.
