Jaleco Classics Saiyuuki World, Magic John, and Pizza Pop! Announced for Nintendo Switch in Upcoming 'JALECOlle Famicom Edition'

City Connection continues to honor video game heritage by announcing a new wave of Jaleco classics for the Nintendo Switch.

As part of the 'JALECOlle Famicom Edition' series, three beloved titles—Saiyuuki World, Magic John, and Pizza Pop!—are making their way to Nintendo's modern hardware, bringing fresh attention to historic Famicom-era gaming.

The announcement was officially shared through City Connection's social media channels and website, reinforcing the company’s commitment to preserving and revisiting retro game experiences.

While launch dates have not yet been revealed, fans can anticipate the arrival of these titles on the Nintendo eShop sometime in the near future. Saiyuuki World, originally released in 1988, stands as a hallmark of Japan-exclusive action-adventure RPGs.

Developed by Westone, the creative team behind Wonder Boy in Monster Land, Saiyuuki World adapts ideas from both the classic Wonder Boy gameplay structure and the 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West.

Players take on the role of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, embarking on a heroic quest to defeat the Ox Demon King and restore tranquility to the city of Chang'an.

The progression system allows players to purchase equipment upgrades, boost their health, and acquire new weapons by besting formidable bosses—lending depth and replayability to this treasured retro title. The second game, Magic John (1990), is an action platformer created by developer Aicom.

Known to Western audiences as Totally Rad, the title follows aspiring magician John (or Jake in overseas releases) as he sets off to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend from a menacing group of monsters.

With a suite of magical spells, John can transform into various forms, each granting different abilities needed to navigate unique platforming challenges.

The game’s inventive transformations and vivid presentation have earned it a cherished reputation among Famicom enthusiasts. Completing this trio is Pizza Pop! (1992), a platformer developed by Arc System Works and published by Jaleco.

In Pizza Pop!, players navigate hazardous stages as a determined pizza delivery boy, striving to amass enough money to buy an engagement ring for his beloved.

Delivering pizzas to comically dangerous locations, the player must overcome various obstacles, making for a memorable and whimsical experience characteristic of Jaleco’s eccentric game design from the era.
