Nintendo Today! Offers Exclusive Super Mario Galaxy Movie Digital Collectibles and Rewards

Nintendo is ramping up its promotional efforts for the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie with a new wave of digital collectibles, available exclusively via the Nintendo Today! app.

This initiative, announced by Shigeru Miyamoto during the conclusion of the latest Nintendo Direct dedicated to the film, underscores Nintendo’s commitment to engaging its dedicated fanbase ahead of the movie's highly anticipated release. The Nintendo Today! app now features a daily collectible card drop tied to the Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

Users who log in each day through the home screen of the app can access the designated section to collect that day's item.

With a total of 40 unique digital cards distributed, Nintendo is offering fans until June 1st to complete their collections. In a notable promotional statement, Miyamoto emphasized that the campaign is designed to heighten fan engagement through fun daily activities.

Gathering at least three cards by May 31st entitles fans to a reward of 100 My Nintendo Platinum Points, which can be redeemed for various Nintendo eShop and physical merchandise rewards. Collectors can view their entire digital card collection within the Mario Galaxy Movie portal inside the Nintendo Today! app.

Each unlocked card provides a short biography on the corresponding character or item, accompanied by a retrospective look at key games that character or item has appeared in.

The app even highlights the user's age during the original release of notable games, offering an additional personalized nostalgia factor. Beyond card collection, Nintendo Today! is enhancing the Super Mario Galaxy Movie experience in theaters.

Beginning with the film's cinematic debut on April 1st, users can utilize the app to scan participating movie posters in select cinemas and 'check-in,' unlocking exclusive in-app content such as digital photo frames, wallpapers, and more.

This effort seamlessly ties Nintendo’s digital outreach to real-world fan activities, fostering deeper brand loyalty. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie follows a long tradition of successful Nintendo transmedia projects, with the Mario franchise already boasting record-breaking sales on Nintendo Switch and critical acclaim for prior film releases.

By leveraging digital collectibles and interactive app features, Nintendo continues to innovate in both fan engagement and creative marketing on the eve of their latest movie premiere.
