Nintendo dedicated a 22-minute Nintendo Direct to Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, the next mainline tactics entry from series developer Intelligent Systems, confirming story beats, core systems, and platform details for the Nintendo Switch 2 release.

The presentation detailed the game's starting point in the Dagdan Empire capital of Dagsion, introduced the four initial protagonists, expanded on combat and class systems, and outlined hub and world-map features ahead of the game's launch on Thursday, September 17th.

According to Nintendo's press material distributed after the Direct, the game opens in Dagsion in the year 1449 and centers on four Heroes competing in the Heroic Games.

Nintendo described each Hero in clear terms: Cai is a village-born contender who joins the Games with childhood friends to rescue his imprisoned father; Dietrich arrives after surviving a maritime monster attack and fights to sate a thirst for battle; Theodora leads veteran retainers from the kingdom of Saramis to restore the honor of her goddess and defend her realm; and Leda, a noble musician, sacrifices her standing to pursue vengeance for her father's murder and enters the Games when she learns the killer will compete.

Fortune’s Weave supports multiple routes and introduces the Pale Raven’s Perch, a hub feature in Dagsion that allows players to run the four Hero routes in parallel while saving separate progress for each.

Dagsion functions similarly to Garreg Mach Monastery from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, with locations for arena training, shopping and weapon enhancement, temple blessings, certification exams for new classes, quests, recruitment, and inns for rest and relationship building.

Combat was detailed in the Direct and press materials: encounters on the world map are presented as turn-based "clashes," the announced gauntlet weapon is categorized like a firearm, and classes are divided into Beginner, Specialty, and Advanced tiers.

Nintendo highlighted new mechanics including Blaze Arts—powerful moves that consume a Hero's health—and Fortuna’s Blessing, a time-rewind mechanic that lets players revert to earlier points during a battle.

The Direct also introduced the Elephant Rider advanced class, showcased on recurring series character Anna.

The presentation moved forward in time to 1454 to reveal Eshmel as the Direct-stated "true protagonist," with Sothis appearing in adult form and a looming threat posed by the demon god Balor.

Nintendo confirmed additional Fire Emblem content will appear in the Nintendo Music and Nintendo Today! apps (ten tracks are available at launch), and announced an Ask the Developer article scheduled for September 15th.

The ESRB rating for Fortune’s Weave is T for Teen, listing fantasy violence, use of alcohol, mild language, suggestive themes, and in-game purchases.

Pre-orders are live at retailers and on the Nintendo eShop; digital copies are listed $10 below the standard physical release, and additional Collector’s Edition units have been made available through Nintendo’s online store.
