EmuDeck 2.2 Launches with Sega Model 2 and Model 3 Arcade Emulation Support on Steam Deck

EmuDeck 2.2 Update Elevates Steam Deck Retro Gaming with Sega Arcade Support EmuDeck, a popular emulator management tool designed for Steam Deck users, has rolled out its much-anticipated 2.2 update, introducing significant enhancements for retro gaming enthusiasts.

Available for immediate download, the new release adds official support for Sega’s iconic Model 2 and Model 3 arcade hardware, opening the door to a library of beloved classic titles for Steam Deck and SteamOS users. EmuDeck serves as an essential application for those seeking to streamline and optimize their emulation experience on the Steam Deck platform.

The 2.2 update expands its lineup of supported systems by integrating several new emulators into its setup.

Noteworthy additions include Flycast, which brings compatibility for Sega Dreamcast, Naomi, Naomi 2, and Atomiswave platforms; and BigPemu, targeting Atari Jaguar games.

Most notably, dedicated emulators for Sega Model 2 and Model 3 are now part of the suite, allowing users to enjoy legendary arcade hits such as Daytona USA, Sega Rally 2, Scud Race, and Virtua Fighter 3 with simplified setup and improved performance. The development team has also implemented changes to the available emulators within EmuDeck.

Following the removal of Yuzu and Citra after both were discontinued by their developers, EmuDeck clarified that users who already have these emulators installed will not lose access—they will remain available and configurable through EmuDeck’s interface. To access the update, Steam Deck owners can simply launch EmuDeck from desktop mode, prompting an automatic installation of the new version.

The update process enables quick installation of the new emulators and access to a refined front-end user interface. The EmuDeck 2.2 update also brings notable improvements for SteamOS, including a streamlined installer, revised controller configurations in the Dolphin emulator, and a series of bug fixes to enhance system stability.
