Hazelight Studios and Electronic Arts have officially announced the upcoming launch and pre-order details for the highly anticipated co-op adventure game, Split Fiction, on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Unveiled as a showcase title during the recent Nintendo Direct dedicated to the Switch 2, Split Fiction is generating significant buzz as it prepares to make its debut on Nintendo’s next-generation hardware, joining a lineup of prominent multiplatform releases. In a recent statement published on the official EA blog, the publisher confirmed that Split Fiction will be priced at $49.99 on Nintendo Switch 2.

This aligns with the standard pricing seen on other platforms where the game launched earlier in the year, ensuring Switch 2 owners are not subject to any premium.

Furthermore, EA revealed that pre-orders for this co-op experience will become available starting April 24, giving eager fans the opportunity to secure their copy ahead of release via the Nintendo eShop and other participating retailers. The announcement coincided with the latest installment of Nintendo’s 'Creator's Voice' video series, which spotlighted Hazelight Studios and their vision for Split Fiction on Nintendo hardware.

In a wide-ranging interview, studio founder Josef Fares and executive producer Oskar Wolontis explained how the Switch 2 version would harness the console’s updated features to deliver a unique cooperative experience.

Notably, the game will make full use of Switch 2’s new GameChat and GameShare capabilities, enhancing real-time communication and seamless gameplay sharing between players. Split Fiction continues Hazelight’s tradition of innovative co-op mechanics through its Friend’s Pass system—a feature that first gained acclaim in their hit title, It Takes Two.

With Friend’s Pass, only one player needs to own the game for a pair to play together online, removing barriers and increasing accessibility for the Nintendo Switch 2 user base.

Josef Fares and Oskar Wolontis stressed that their aim is to foster collaborative play and social connection, leveraging Nintendo’s community-driven hardware features to set a new standard for co-op gaming on the platform. Split Fiction’s Switch 2 release represents another major milestone for Hazelight Studios, whose past titles, including the BAFTA-winning It Takes Two, have redefined expectations for narrative-driven, multiplayer adventures.

With a solidified launch date, confirmed price, and robust co-op support, Split Fiction is poised to be one of the most notable additions to the Nintendo eShop when pre-orders open on April 24.

Stay tuned for further updates as the game approaches its anticipated release on Nintendo Switch 2.
