Description

EA's Battlefield 6 Skips Nintendo Switch 2, Focuses on Core Platforms for October 2025 Launch Electronic Arts (EA) and DICE have officially set a release date for Battlefield 6, with the highly anticipated military shooter scheduled to launch on October 10, 2025.

However, despite growing third-party support for the Nintendo Switch 2, Battlefield 6 will not be part of the platform's upcoming releases.

This was confirmed during an interview with Eurogamer, where Battlefield series lead Vince Zampella reiterated that there are currently no plans to bring Battlefield 6 to the Nintendo Switch 2. According to Zampella, the team's priority is "delivering the game where the core Battlefield audience is present." Battlefield 6 will, therefore, be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via channels such as Steam, EA App, and the Epic Games Store.

EA's official FAQ further emphasizes that the focus remains on platforms traditionally aligned with the franchise's fanbase. While fans of Nintendo hardware might be disappointed at Battlefield’s absence on Switch 2, EA remains committed to supporting the new hybrid console with other titles.

The publisher announced earlier today that Plants Vs Zombies: Replanted, highly anticipated by fans following recent rumors, will launch on both the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2 this October.

Additionally, the latest iterations in the EA FC and Madden series, as well as Apex Legends, are also set to arrive on the new platform, signaling ongoing support from one of the world’s leading third-party developers. This announcement comes in the wake of recent news that Microsoft and Activision plan to deliver the Call of Duty series to Nintendo platforms in the future, further underlining the growing role of third-party games on Nintendo hardware. In summary, while Battlefield 6 is skipping the Nintendo Switch 2 launch window and concentrating on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, EA’s broader portfolio will ensure significant representation on the Nintendo eShop and the new Switch ecosystem in 2024 and beyond.

For Nintendo fans hungry for high-profile shooters, attention may turn to other franchises as the company continues to expand its third-party lineup with games like Plants Vs Zombies: Replanted, EA FC, Madden, and Apex Legends. Stay tuned for the latest updates on Battlefield 6, Nintendo Switch 2 news, and the evolving landscape of third-party support on Nintendo platforms.
