Dynasty Warriors: Origins Announces Major 'Visions of Four Heroes' DLC for Nintendo Switch 2 Launch

Koei Tecmo and Omega Force have unveiled a major update for their highly anticipated action title, Dynasty Warriors: Origins, which is set to release for the Nintendo Switch 2 on January 22, 2026.

Coinciding with the game’s launch, the expansive downloadable content, Visions of Four Heroes, will also become available, offering longtime fans and newcomers fresh stories, new weapons, and enhanced features across the hack and slash experience that the Dynasty Warriors franchise is known for.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins is the latest installment in the storied franchise from Koei Tecmo and developer Omega Force.

Since the series debuted in 1997, it has become renowned for its epic 1 vs.

1,000 gameplay and deep retelling of historical events from the Three Kingdoms period.

With the arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2, Origins aims to bring the spectacle of massive battlefield combat to a new generation of players. The Visions of Four Heroes DLC, priced at $34.99 (regional pricing may vary), is rolling out simultaneously on all announced platforms, including Nintendo’s new hardware.

According to official statements, this content pack introduces fresh narrative arcs for four characters who previously received limited focus: Zhang Jiao, Dong Zhuo, Yuan Shao, and the famed Lu Bu.

Each story is presented as a "What If" scenario, offering unique perspectives and alternative developments within the rich lore of Dynasty Warriors. The DLC further expands its character roster with the inclusion of new allies—such as Zhuhe, Guardian of Peace; returning fan-favorite Diaochan; and a mysterious new officer whose true identity unravels as the story progresses.

Players will also gain access to two new weapon types: the Bow and Rope Dart, each delivering distinctive combat styles to the battlefield.

Existing arsenals receive updates as well, featuring new arts, skill panels, and an increased trait level cap to keep gameplay dynamic. In a bid to enhance replayability and skill mastery, a new Training Ground mode will debut alongside the DLC.

Here, players can hone their abilities and challenge formidable opponents in tailored practice battles. Early adopters who pre-order Visions of Four Heroes will receive an exclusive in-game outfit, the Yellow Turban Attire, available for a limited time.

This costume is designed to evoke the spirit of the Yellow Turban Rebellion and allows players to enter battle dressed in iconic rebellion garb synonymous with the Dynasty Warriors saga. Pre-orders for the Visions of Four Heroes DLC are now live on select digital storefronts, including the Nintendo eShop, providing Switch 2 owners the opportunity to secure both the base game and its major expansion on day one.
