Deltarune Cross-Buy Support Announced for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2

Deltarune, the acclaimed game from indie developer Toby Fox, is taking a forward-thinking approach with its upcoming release on Nintendo’s platforms.

In a recent newsletter, Fox confirmed that Deltarune will support full cross-buy functionality between the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

This means that players only need to purchase the game once to access it on both platforms, offering added value and convenience for fans upgrading to the next generation. Originally launched by Toby Fox as a follow-up to the celebrated Undertale, Deltarune has quickly become a cornerstone title in the indie JRPG scene.

As Fox explained, players who buy Deltarune on the current Nintendo Switch platform will also be able to download it at no extra cost on the Nintendo Switch 2, provided they use the same Nintendo Account.

The same benefit applies in reverse, allowing seamless access across both consoles. Sharing the news via a developer newsletter, Toby Fox stated that the studio is committed to offering this cross-buy feature for Nintendo platforms.

In his statement, Fox noted, ‘We’re implementing the same approach for Nintendo users – buying the game on Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 will entitle you to the other version at no additional charge, except in Japan due to local regulations requiring a nominal fee.’ He went on to emphasize that this single-purchase model gives players both versions, including access to unique in-game content on each platform. The Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Deltarune is set for release on June 5, with midnight local launches in each region.

Players on the current Nintendo Switch will gain access starting June 4 at 8 AM PT, 11 AM ET, and 5 PM CET.
