Bomb Jack Twin Returns: NMK's Classic Platformer Joins Arcade Archives on Nintendo Switch and More

Retro gaming enthusiasts have a new reason to celebrate as Hamster, in partnership with Koei Tecmo, has announced the arrival of NMK’s acclaimed 1993 platformer, Bomb Jack Twin, to the acclaimed Arcade Archives series.

This release, slated for January 15th, 2026, marks another significant addition to the growing catalog of classic video games available on modern platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Originally developed by NMK and published with Tehkan’s iconic Bomb Jack series roots, Bomb Jack Twin builds upon the foundation set by the beloved 1984 original.

Known for its vibrant graphics, engaging gameplay, and inventive soundtrack composed by Manabu Namiki, this reissue brings updated visuals and a compelling two-player cooperative mode.

Players once again step into the shoes of the superhero Bomb Jack, now joined by his twin sister, as they leap and glide through famous international landmarks to gather colorful bombs while evading enemy threats. According to Hamster’s official description, Bomb Jack Twin delivers a fresh and more challenging experience, noting that "the popular Bomb Jack is back, cuter and tougher than ever!" The Arcade Archives edition features the core mechanics fans have come to love: dodging adversaries, collecting all bombs on each stage, and focusing on illuminated bombs to achieve higher scores.

Power-ups, including the “P” item that turns enemies into collectible coins, further enhance the gameplay variety.

Stages conclude when players successfully acquire all bombs. This re-release comes in two editions.

For PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, Bomb Jack Twin will be available through Arcade Archives for $7.99.

Meanwhile, the advanced Arcade Archives 2 version brings the platformer to Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S at $9.99, introducing an exclusive Time Attack Mode in addition to the classic Hi Score Mode and Caravan Mode available across both editions.

Online leaderboards and customizable screen filters offer a modern spin for competitive and nostalgic gamers alike.

Players wishing to upgrade between the two versions on PlayStation and Nintendo platforms can do so for an additional $2.99. Bomb Jack Twin’s forthcoming inclusion in Arcade Archives underscores Hamster’s ongoing commitment to preserving video game history.

With features designed for both new audiences and longtime fans, this release stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of classic arcade action.

As digital preservation efforts gain momentum and retro video games reach broader audiences through platforms like the Nintendo eShop and PlayStation Store, Bomb Jack Twin joins a growing list of timeless titles revitalized for the modern era.
