PokePark Kanto Opening Date Announced: First Permanent Pokémon Theme Park Set for Tokyo

PokePark Kanto, the world’s first permanent Pokémon theme park, is set to officially open its doors at Yomiuriland Amusement Park in Tokyo, Japan, on February 5, 2026.

This highly anticipated destination promises an immersive experience for Pokémon fans of all ages, cementing another milestone in the enduring partnership between The Pokémon Company and amusement park operator Yomiuriland.

On January 26, 2026, members of the press and industry insiders were given an exclusive first look at PokePark Kanto’s completed interiors during an invitation-only preview event.

This marked the debut of several main attractions that will form the core of the park’s offerings.

At the heart of the park is Pokémon Forest, a scenic nature walk trail lined with life-sized statues of beloved Pokémon from the original Kanto region.

The lush, interactive setting invites visitors to discover hidden Pokémon as they explore vibrant flora and winding paths, designed to evoke the spirit of adventure that defines the franchise. Complementing this centerpiece is Kayatsuri Town, a family-friendly area modeled after iconic Pokémon locales.

Here, guests can visit a dedicated Pokémon Center store featuring exclusive merchandise, collect memorabilia, and experience themed rides based on popular elements from the games and series.

The area also hosts a unique Pokémon Gym theater, where visitors can watch live performances and presentations inspired by high-stakes Gym battles depicted in the anime and video games. Park representatives described PokePark Kanto as a "milestone achievement for fans and families," highlighting their focus on interactivity and authenticity throughout the development process.

"We aimed to create a place that brings the Pokémon world to life through carefully curated details and engaging activities," one official noted at the preview, underscoring the park’s attention to both heritage fans and new generations. PokePark Kanto at Yomiuriland expands Nintendo and The Pokémon Company’s strategy of delivering interactive, beyond-the-screen entertainment—following similar successes such as Nintendo’s themed areas in Universal Studios parks.

While previous Pokémon events and pop-ups have captivated audiences worldwide, this marks the first time a permanent, large-scale installation devoted to the franchise is being offered to the public. With its grand opening scheduled for February 5, 2026, and unique features like the Pokémon Forest, Kayatsuri Town, the Pokémon Center store, and live Gym performances, PokePark Kanto is poised to become a landmark attraction for both local fans and international visitors.

Further details about ticketing, special events, and park policies will be released in the coming months through the official Yomiuriland and Pokémon Center channels.
