Taito Corporation continues to celebrate its rich arcade legacy with Bubble Bobble Sugar Dungeons, set to launch on November 17th for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 (PS5), and PC via Steam.
Originally showcased during Arc System Works’ June event, the game marks the latest entry in the beloved Bubble Bobble franchise.
In a recent update, Taito has announced that every copy of Bubble Bobble Sugar Dungeons will also include the Sega Saturn port of the classic arcade game, Bubble Symphony (also known as Bubble Bobble II in Europe), offering fans a compelling blend of new and nostalgic content.
The announcement came through a newly released producer message on the Bub's Broadcast YouTube Channel, where Taito disclosed that the Sega Saturn version of Bubble Symphony would accompany the main game upon release.
This inclusion not only honors the franchise's historic roots but also provides new audiences with the opportunity to experience a landmark title in action-platforming arcade history.
Bubble Symphony made its original arcade debut in 1994 on Taito's F3 System, gaining popularity for its vibrant visuals and engaging cooperative gameplay.
The game was later ported to the Sega Saturn exclusively in Japan in 1997, expanding its reach to home console audiences.
Over the years, the title has also been featured in various collections, such as Taito Legends 2—available for Xbox (European exclusive), Windows, and PlayStation 2—and the Japan-only Taito Memories II: Gekan compilation for PS2.
The production of Bubble Symphony’s modern release as part of Bubble Bobble Sugar Dungeons is being managed by City Connection, a company known for its faithful handling of classic game ports.
According to the statement released on Bub’s Broadcast, City Connection is overseeing the technical and platform adaptation to ensure the Saturn version meets contemporary expectations on Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PC.
This is not the first time Taito has included a vintage Bubble Bobble experience alongside a new title.
The publisher previously bundled the original arcade Bubble Bobble with Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, giving longtime fans and newcomers alike a chance to revisit the series’ origins while exploring fresh gameplay mechanics.
By adding the Sega Saturn port of Bubble Symphony, Taito continues its tradition of celebrating the franchise’s enduring legacy while introducing classic titles to new hardware platforms.
With the November 17th release of Bubble Bobble Sugar Dungeons rapidly approaching, fans can look forward to both innovative new content and the chance to relive a respected slice of arcade history on modern consoles and PC.
