Nintendo Music App Update: Bill Trinen Addresses Demand for Mario Kart World Soundtrack

In a recent interview with The Washington Post, Nintendo of America's Bill Trinen offered insights into upcoming projects and soundtrack availability.

The discussion came on the heels of Nintendo's announcement of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild vinyl collection, slated for release in 2026.

This collectible release is anticipated to be a tangible celebration of the beloved game's renowned orchestral soundtrack, further underlining Nintendo’s dedication to preserving its musical legacy for fans on both physical and digital platforms. During the interview, Trinen was also asked about Nintendo Music, a streaming app exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers that features an expanding library of iconic soundtracks from Nintendo franchises.

One highly requested addition is the Mario Kart World soundtrack, known for its energetic and genre-defining music.

When questioned about the possibility of adding the Mario Kart World soundtrack to the Nintendo Music app, Trinen acknowledged the demand among the fanbase but clarified that there is currently no confirmed release window for the soundtrack’s debut on the service. "Bringing soundtracks to Nintendo Music requires significant preparation,” Trinen stated in the interview.

He emphasized that the process takes time, especially for large and detailed collections such as the Mario Kart World soundtrack.

According to Trinen, it’s a matter of scheduling and ensuring there’s an appropriate time for new soundtracks to be integrated into the platform.

"We regularly review our calendar to see when new music releases might fit, and we understand just how eager fans are to see more soundtracks, especially from series as popular as Mario Kart, on Nintendo Music," he explained. Since launching Nintendo Switch Online, Nintendo has steadily expanded its range of digital benefits, with the Nintendo Music app emerging as a favored feature among enthusiasts of the company’s iconic soundtracks.
