Japanese studio G.rev, renowned for its acclaimed shoot 'em ups such as Kokuga and Border Down, has unveiled plans to launch Strania -The Stella Machina- EX for the Nintendo Switch.

The digital-only release is slated to land on the Nintendo eShop on January 23, 2025, expanding the Switch's growing library of classic and arcade shoot 'em up experiences. Originally debuting on the Xbox 360 and arcades—most notably via exA-Arcadia’s modular ROM cartridge system—Strania -The Stella Machina- has established a cult following among fans of the genre.

The game presents players with the opportunity to pilot a colossal mech amid an interstellar conflict, with a unique twist: gamers can choose to fight for either faction, offering distinct perspectives and replayability throughout the campaign. Maruyama stated that G.rev “chose to focus exclusively on the Nintendo Switch to ensure the best possible experience for players,” promising that the updated release will deliver “an unforgettable adventure.” As of now, Strania -The Stella Machina- EX is confirmed for a digital-only launch via the Nintendo eShop, with no physical release announced.
