SEGA officially confirmed the English voice cast for Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, marking a major milestone in the acclaimed series’ ongoing global expansion.
The Director’s Cut is set to make its worldwide debut on the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, offering both new and returning players a refreshed experience of the beloved action-adventure title.
Originally developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, Yakuza 0 remains a pivotal entry in the Yakuza franchise, known for its richly detailed recreations of 1988 Japan and its gripping narrative told from dual perspectives.
With the Director’s Cut, SEGA aims to offer the definitive edition of the game, complete with all-new content and broader language support.
To highlight this enhanced release, SEGA released exclusive video previews featuring the newly recorded English voice work for series protagonists Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima.
The game’s Western launch is further emphasized by the inclusion of the theme song “Bubble” by Shōnan no Kaze, making its official debut outside Japan.
The English voice cast for Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut brings together notable talent from across the voice acting industry.
Yong Yea lends his voice to Kazuma Kiryu, with Topher Ngo providing Kiryu’s singing parts, while Matt Mercer assumes the role of Goro Majima.
The supporting cast includes Kaiji Tang and Greg Chun (singing) as Akira Nishikiyama, Risa Mei as Makoto Makimura, David Hayter as Osamu Kashiwagi, and Alejandro Saab as Jun Oda.
Other distinguished actors such as Andrew Kishino, Howard Wang, Bill Millsap, Keston John, Eliah Mountjoy, Vic Chao, Jon Ohye, Nobi Nakanishi, Adam Gold, Imari Williams, Frank Todaro, Fred Tatasciore, and Paul Nakauchi round out the ensemble.
In a statement from the publisher, SEGA described the Director’s Cut as “the perfect entry point for those looking to begin their Yakuza journey.” This version expands upon the original release by incorporating never-before-seen story cutscenes that delve deeper into character backstories and pivotal incidents.
Additionally, players can look forward to a brand-new “Red Light Raid” online multiplayer mode, which offers access to 60 playable characters and cooperative gameplay designed to enhance replayability.
Localization takes center stage in this edition, with the inclusion of full English and Chinese voice-overs, as well as subtitles in French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese.
This marks a significant commitment to accessibility for the series' international fanbase.
Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut will be available at retail and through the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 beginning 5 June 2025.
