Nintendo has confirmed the launch date and core features for Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, its new motion-controlled sports title arriving on Nintendo Switch 2.
The game is scheduled to release both at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop on 22 October 2026.
Nintendo’s announcement outlines a mix of competitive sports, leisure activities, and an open island to explore, leveraging the Joy-Con 2 controllers for motion-driven inputs.
In its press materials, Nintendo explained that Wuhu Island serves as more than a backdrop: players can freely explore the resort, pursue dolphins in the surrounding ocean, hunt for hidden hibiscus flowers, and collect Spocco Photos to learn about sightseeing spots across the island.
The company also described a new offline progression option, Island Crown mode, which lets players climb ranked tiers in each sport to face Island Champions and Island Legends.
Progress in any sport or mode earns Spocco Points, an in-game currency that can be exchanged for customisations to personalise a player’s Mii character or Sportsmate.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort returns to the motion-sports formula with 12 distinct sports and a variety of control schemes designed for Joy-Con 2 controllers.
Players can use motion gestures to mimic rackets, bows, and handlebars, or take part in activities that employ the Joy-Con 2’s mouse-style controls.
The confirmed sports list includes Boxing, Table Tennis, Archery, Tennis, Volleyball, Bowling, Basketball, Golf, and Thumb Wrestling, alongside leisure experiences such as Skateboarding, Power Cruising, Prop Plane, and warm-up activities like Jump Rope.
The game supports solo play and local multiplayer for friends and family.
