Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Release Date Confirmed — 3 December 2026, 4K Upgrade and New Content

Nintendo has officially announced Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, confirming a worldwide release for both physical retail and digital purchase on the Nintendo eShop on 3 December 2026.

Developed by Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 originally launched for Nintendo Switch on 29 July 2022; this new edition adapts the title for Nintendo’s next-generation hardware with visual and performance improvements.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition introduces native 4K output on compatible TVs and targets full HD in handheld mode at a smoother 60 frames per second, offering a visual and performance upgrade over the original Switch release.

Nintendo’s product listing also details additional gameplay content and presentation updates included in this edition.

Nintendo states the update adds a recruitable new Hero with a supplementary quest, and a defensive battle mode that challenges players to withstand waves of enemies.

The company also confirms that the game’s event scenes are now fully voiced.

Nintendo has said that further specifics about the new content will be provided at a later date.

Pricing and upgrade paths are confirmed: the standalone Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is priced at £58.99 in the U.K., while owners of the original Xenoblade Chronicles 3 on Nintendo Switch can purchase an upgrade pack for £7.99 to bring their copy up to the new edition’s technical and content enhancements.

The edition will be available both as a boxed release and as a digital download via the Nintendo eShop on launch day.

Monolith Soft’s work on the Xenoblade series has been central to Nintendo’s RPG lineup for more than a decade, and this port to Nintendo Switch 2 follows Nintendo’s general approach of delivering upgraded editions to take advantage of new hardware capabilities.

With the 3 December 2026 release date now confirmed, fans and retailers can plan for the holiday window launch.

Reporting on the announcement and the listing details was Alex Seedhouse, a long-time Nintendo specialist who has covered the company across multiple console generations.

Nintendo’s official product page remains the primary source for technical specifications and future updates, and the company has indicated it will reveal additional details ahead of launch.
