Pokémon TCG Black Bolt and White Flare Dual Set Confirmed for English Release in July 2025 The Pokémon Company has officially confirmed that the eagerly awaited Black Bolt and White Flare Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) dual set will be released in English-speaking regions, marking a historic first for the TCG in the West.

This blockbuster announcement comes following the initial reveal and hype surrounding the sets’ Japanese launch, where fans celebrated the return of Unova-region favorites and the introduction of an all-new card rarity. The Black Bolt and White Flare expansions are set to launch in the United Kingdom on July 18, 2025, with additional products rolling out in the subsequent weeks both online and through select retailers, including the Pokémon Center and the Nintendo eShop.

Both expansions boast over 170 cards each, comprising an impressive array of illustration rare cards featuring every one of Unova's 156 Pokémon.

Collectors and players can look forward to tracking down at least five unique special illustration rare cards as well as highly sought-after Pokémon ex cards. A standout feature of the Black Bolt and White Flare sets is the introduction of the new ‘BWR’ rarity—believed to stand for ‘Black White Rare’.

These ultra-rare cards showcase striking, minimalist designs and are currently confirmed to feature three iconic Unova legendaries: Reshiram, Zekrom, and Victini.

According to the official set details, the BWR rarity represents the pinnacle of collectability within the expansion and is expected to generate significant buzz in the collector’s market. In a statement summarized by this outlet, Pokémon Company representatives highlighted the special nature of this Western dual release, noting that previously, Japanese dual sets were typically merged into a single expansion for English publication.

For this milestone, Black Bolt and White Flare will each retain their distinct identities, marking the first time such a dual set arrives intact in English territories.

Unlike conventional TCG releases, these sets will not receive a standard Booster Box in the West, but fans can look forward to a robust lineup on launch day, including Elite Trainer Boxes, Binder Collections, and Mini Tins. The Japanese version of the Black Bolt and White Flare set is due for release on June 6, 2025, serving as an early showcase for the TCG’s 15th anniversary commemoration of Pokémon Black and White on Nintendo hardware.

With strong sales anticipated and past sets like Destined Rivals and Prismatic Evolutions facing unprecedented demand, The Pokémon Company has stated that ongoing restocks are a top priority to meet the expected collector and player interest. For Poké-fans, the upcoming launch represents both a nostalgic journey through Unova—originally featured on the Nintendo DS—and an exciting opportunity to pursue some of the most visually stunning and exclusive cards in the Pokémon TCG’s recent history.

Keep an eye out for official product listings, release updates, and further details as July 18 approaches.
