In a groundbreaking fusion of retro gaming and heavy music, Scottish band Party Cannon has announced the upcoming release of their new EP, 'Subjected To A Partying,' on a Nintendo 64 cartridge.
The project is set to launch on March 27, 2026, via Unique Leader Records, making it a notable milestone in both music and gaming history. Party Cannon, based in Dunfermline, Scotland, is widely recognized for their energetic and unique blend of 'brutal party slam' death metal.
Their latest venture pushes the boundaries by leveraging Nintendo’s iconic N64 hardware, a console that originally concluded its production lifecycle in 2001.
By doing so, Party Cannon sets a new precedent, becoming the first slamming death metal band to release music on the platform. Band bassist Clankenstein shared, "We are charting new territory by releasing our EP on the Nintendo 64.
To mark Daryl Boyce's debut as our new vocalist, we wanted to create a truly memorable experience, and the Nintendo 64 embodies that nostalgic spirit.
Our mascot, Vominic Stonebones, meticulously designed and ported the cartridge content himself.
The vocals bring an intense, raw energy to these tracks—ushering in a new era for Party Slam." 'Party Cannon's 'Subjected To A Partying' EP features four songs on the Nintendo 64 cartridge: High Tariff Behaviour, Improper Use Of A Speculum, Human Slime, and Parisian Bedbug.
The N64 release is strictly limited to 100 copies, each including exclusive band bios and photos.
Fans will also discover a hidden, professionally mixed live video of "Human Slime" from Obscene Extreme 2025, as well as a limited-edition Vominic Stonebones resin mini-figure. Content is delivered in classic 320 x 240 resolution with 44,100 Hz stereo audio, ensuring an authentic retro experience for collectors and fans.
It is important to note that the release is in PAL format only.
For those seeking additional content, the vinyl and CD editions of the EP will include five extra tracks, composed of remixes and live performances. This isn’t Party Cannon’s first foray into the world of retro gaming hardware.
Previously, the band released an album on the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis, underscoring their commitment to intertwining music with vintage game platforms.
Notably, Party Cannon also released a ‘Street Fighter’-inspired music video for their track 'I Believe in Dani Filth,' further highlighting their affinity for gaming culture. With this bold move, Party Cannon not only pays homage to the enduring legacy of the Nintendo 64 but also expands the creative possibilities for artists seeking to connect with audiences in innovative ways.
As gaming and music continue to intersect, 'Subjected To A Partying' stands as a testament to the unique connections forged between these two worlds.
