Context and recent history
The headline for this coverage echoed Tolkien’s verse to signal Aspyr’s renewed focus on Lord of the Rings ports for Nintendo hardware.
Aspyr recently released Lord of the Rings: War in the North - Legacy Edition for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2; in our review of that release we scored it 5/10, praising combat and presentation while criticizing repetitive gameplay and technical issues.
Shadow of Mordor originally received stronger critical praise than Shadow of War at launch, and these Switch 2 ports bring both titles to Nintendo’s current hardware with expanded editions and bundled DLC.
