Intro

Ziggurat Interactive has announced plans to crowdfund a new BloodRayne comic to mark the franchise's 25th anniversary, alongside a new merchandise collaboration with independent clothing label The Night Channels.

BloodRayne, originally developed by Terminal Reality and released in October 2002 for PlayStation 2 and Xbox (with GameCube and PC versions following), follows the dhampir Rayne as she battles supernatural threats for the Brimstone Society.

The series later spawned BloodRayne 2 in 2004 and the side-scroller BloodRayne: Betrayal in 2011.

What Ziggurat announced

Ziggurat's crowdfunding campaign is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2027, with the comic positioned as a direct continuation of the cliffhanger that concluded BloodRayne 2.

The campaign describes the unresolved ending of BloodRayne 2 as one of the franchise's most notable narrative cliffhangers, and the new book will pick up from that point to explore Rayne's next challenges, including a new antagonist group called the Red Widows.

Creative team and expanded material

The new story will be written by Kevin Roditeli, with art by BRÄO.

The project will also include expanded-universe tales by Felipe Cagno and contributions from established comics writers Andy Lanning and Ant Williams.

Comics veteran Serge LaPointe will serve as letterer and designer, with Chris Stevens acting as editor.

Ziggurat is additionally offering a new merch line in collaboration with The Night Channels, which is available to order now.

Definitive Edition update: PS5 and Nintendo Switch

In the same announcement, Ziggurat provided an update on Strictly Limited Games' BloodRayne Definitive Edition physical releases.

Ziggurat said all three games in the Definitive Edition have been approved and cleared for production on PS5.

The Nintendo Switch physical release is awaiting Nintendo approval specifically for the BloodRayne 2 physical patch.

Production art has reportedly been designed and approved.

Strictly Limited Games' publishing producer Felix Wagner indicated that the physical product is nearing the shipping stage, noting that completed approvals mean copies are close to being dispatched to retailers.

Fulfilment window and remaining details

No specific ship date was provided.

The current fulfilment window listed on the publisher's site is Winter 2026/27.

Fans can expect the crowdfunding campaign for the comic to open in Q1 2027, while the Definitive Edition physical production moves through final approval and manufacturing stages for PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

Background and legacy

Since Ziggurat reacquired rights to the series, releases have focused on remasters and reissues, keeping BloodRayne visible to modern audiences.

The upcoming comic and new merch are the publisher's latest efforts to expand the franchise beyond digital remasters and physical re-releases on platforms such as PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
