The UK’s latest video game sales charts reveal a familiar landscape for Nintendo Switch titles as established bestsellers continue to compete for top spots alongside fresh releases for PlayStation and Xbox.

Compiled by analytics firm GfK, the weekly sales data shows the enduring appeal of Nintendo’s most popular games, even as new blockbusters enter the market. Hogwarts Legacy, developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros.

Games, maintains its position as the UK’s top-selling physical game for the fourth consecutive week.

Notably, the Nintendo Switch version accounted for an impressive 58% of the game’s physical sales, demonstrating the strong demand for major third-party titles on Nintendo’s platform.

The remaining sales were divided among PlayStation 5 (20%), PlayStation 4 (15%), Xbox Series X|S (4%), and Xbox One (2%). Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, a staple in the fighting genre, remains in the number two position this week, with the majority of sales driven by PlayStation platforms (PS5: 55%, PS4: 45%).

Reports indicate that no physical copies were sold for the Nintendo Switch during this reporting period, highlighting the dominance of Sony’s consoles for this particular release. Minecraft continues to perform strongly on Switch, securing the highest charting position among Nintendo’s lineup, closely followed by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

The latter, which continues to be a perennial favorite since its original launch on the Wii U and subsequent release for the Switch in 2017, climbed to 11th place this week.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains the best-selling title in the history of the Nintendo Switch, further cementing its legacy in the gaming industry. Another notable performer is LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which experienced a considerable jump, rising from 31st to 16th place.

This surge coincides with recent Star Wars Day celebrations, with the Switch version accounting for a significant 70% of physical sales.

This data underscores the lasting appeal of family-friendly, cross-platform titles on Nintendo hardware and the positive impact of timely promotional events. Elsewhere in the chart, new entries like MotoGP 25 made a debut at number 36, but only 5% of its physical copies were sold on Switch, with the majority of players opting for PlayStation 5 (69%).

First-party Nintendo titles such as Super Mario Party Jamboree and Animal Crossing: New Horizons also maintained strong positions, reflecting the continued strength of Nintendo’s suite of exclusive games on the eShop and in retail stores. Week after week, the UK charts reaffirm the robust performance of Nintendo Switch games, both from first-party blockbusters and well-supported third-party releases.

As digital and physical sales are tracked by GfK, platforms like the Nintendo eShop remain central in shaping the UK’s gaming landscape, ensuring Nintendo's influence remains prominent amid shifting industry trends.
