The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter Remake Announced for Nintendo Switch Launch in Fall 2025

Nihon Falcom, the celebrated Japanese developer known for its rich RPG legacy, has officially announced that The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter remake will launch globally on Nintendo Switch in Fall 2025.

Previously revealed in an early 2024 Nintendo Direct under the title The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 1st, this modern reimagining aims to bring the beloved classic to new and returning fans alike. Marking the 20th anniversary of the acclaimed Trails RPG series, this remake breathes new life into the title that started it all.

As part of their milestone celebration, Nihon Falcom has meticulously rebuilt the Liberl Kingdom in full 3D, refining the distinctive character designs of protagonists Estelle and Joshua.

Players can expect fully voice-acted cutscenes in both English and Japanese, ensuring a more immersive narrative experience that honors the series’ longstanding dedication to storytelling. In a recent statement, Nihon Falcom emphasized the depth of the undertaking, highlighting the "exhilarating and user-friendly combat system" which now allows for seamless switching between two unique battle modes: Field Action and Command Battle.

Each character’s signature Crafts and Arts techniques are showcased with dynamic flair, and the overhaul of quests and side activities invites players to experience the vibrant journey across Liberl Kingdom more personally than ever before. The narrative continues to follow Estelle and Joshua as they embark on an epic quest to locate Estelle’s missing father, Cassius, drawing players into a tale of camaraderie, discovery, and growth.

Throughout their adventure, they encounter a captivating ensemble of allies and adversaries, adding further dimension to the world and its complex storytelling. Since its original debut, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky has been acclaimed for its intricate world-building, ensemble cast, and saga-like structure.

The series, which began with the 2004 launch of the first Trails in the Sky title, has seen three entries through 2007 and has achieved cumulative sales of over eight million units worldwide.
