Description

Bandai Namco has officially unveiled a new story-focused trailer for its upcoming roguelite title, Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree, confirming the game’s release for Nintendo Switch on September 19, 2025.

This highly anticipated title introduces players to a mystical world, blending narrative-driven exploration with dynamic, duo-based roguelite combat, all set to the evocative music of acclaimed composer Hitoshi Sakimoto. Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree invites players into a distant magical realm where ancient powers are once again beginning to stir, presenting a renewed threat to Shinju Village.

As Towa, the priestess of Shinju, players must lead a team of eight unique guardians to confront the malevolent forces of Magatsu.

The journey promises a vibrant world filled with splendor and lurking danger, where both combat prowess and the bonds forged with allies will determine the village’s fate. The narrative is central to the experience, with deep storytelling interwoven through relationships formed with other guardians and village residents.

According to Bandai Namco, the game will feature a combat system centered around duo battles.

Players can pair Towa with one of the guardians, each equipped with their own distinct abilities and weapon sets—ranging from the sacred sword, Tsurugi, to the ritual staff, Kagura.

This system encourages experimentation as every guardian pairing introduces a new combat dynamic, inviting diverse strategies to tackle dungeon challenges and Magatsu’s minions. Beyond combat, Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree emphasizes the importance of relationships and progression.

As the guardians travel through various timelines, their interactions shape both their individual stories and the future of Shinju Village.

Players will have the opportunity to train at the dojo, invoke powerful Graces, craft new swords at the smithing shop, and deepen connections with villagers whose stories are woven into the fabric of the community. Complementing the announcement, Bandai Namco released a striking story trailer providing a glimpse into the game’s lush environments and dramatic conflict.

The game’s art direction and world-building, accompanied by Hitoshi Sakimoto’s atmospheric score, aim to immerse players in a world where beauty and peril reside side by side. For those eager to experience the game ahead of its launch, Bandai Namco has made a free playable demo available for download on the Nintendo eShop.

The demo offers a hands-on introduction to Towa’s adventure, showcasing both the combat mechanics and the richly detailed world awaiting in the full release. Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree continues Bandai Namco’s tradition of storytelling innovation and genre-blending gameplay, positioning it as a standout title in the Nintendo Switch lineup for 2025.

With its September 19, 2025 release date, fans can already look forward to charging into a world full of ancient mysteries, blossoming friendships, and epic battles—all from the comfort of Nintendo Switch.
