Mojang Studios today published a launch trailer announcing a dedicated release of Minecraft for the Nintendo Switch 2, and the new version is available starting immediately.

The release brings Mojang's Vibrant Visuals enhancements to Nintendo's latest hardware and reiterates cross-platform and community features that have become central to Minecraft's Bedrock experience.

Mojang characterizes Vibrant Visuals as the game's largest official graphical upgrade, built on a modern rendering pipeline that improves lighting, shadows, reflections and environmental shading.

Mojang says these changes make sunrises more vivid, water reflective, and forests more deeply shaded, and the studio confirmed that Vibrant Visuals support will extend across compatible content in the Minecraft Marketplace.

The Switch 2 edition also highlights the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack, with a custom Mario-themed world and themed skins and music available with Vibrant Visuals enabled.

Nintendo Switch players who move to the Switch 2 can carry over existing worlds so they can continue their saved games on the new hardware.

Core gameplay pillars remain unchanged: players can build in an open-ended sandbox, explore procedurally generated worlds that are unique on each seed, and engage in survival challenges across distinct biomes and dimensions.

Multiplayer options continue to include local split-screen on consoles, cross-platform play with other Bedrock platforms, community servers, and private multiplayer through Realms Plus.

Realms Plus provides a rotating catalog of creator-made add-ons, worlds, skins and texture packs; Mojang notes the offering is refreshed monthly and includes a substantial bundle of content for subscribers.

The Nintendo Switch 2 release follows Mojang's ongoing support for Bedrock features such as the Minecraft Marketplace and creator-made content.

Mojang also reminded players that a free, limited-time upgrade from Nintendo Switch to Nintendo Switch 2 is available for Minecraft, allowing eligible owners to move to the new version without an additional purchase during the promotional window.

Fans can watch the official launch trailer on Mojang's channel and download the new Nintendo Switch 2 build from the Nintendo eShop to experience Vibrant Visuals and the dedicated Switch 2 improvements firsthand.
