Siactro’s beloved speed-centric 3D platformer series makes its highly anticipated return with Toree Saturn, set to launch on August 8, 2025.
Priced at $4.99, Toree Saturn will be available on the original Nintendo Switch, with complete compatibility for the forthcoming Switch 2, as well as PC.
This new chapter in the Toree franchise arrives after a series of development updates, including a brief delay to ensure the game’s quality meets fans’ expectations.
A New Standard in Indie Platforming
The Toree series, developed by indie developer Siactro, has earned widespread praise for its nostalgic visuals and fast-paced gameplay reminiscent of late 1990s and early 2000s 3D platformers.
Toree Saturn continues this tradition, blending vintage aesthetics with modern gameplay mechanics.
In response to strong community interest, Siactro officially confirmed in July 2025 that Toree Saturn’s release would extend support to Nintendo’s next-generation console, Switch 2.
The developer’s ongoing commitment to multiple platforms reiterates their dedication to accessibility and player choice.
Siactro explained the earlier postponement of Toree Saturn, stating that a December release was possible but would have resulted in diminished quality, and that the team was committed to honoring the hard work of those involved in the project.
The decision reflected the growing industry trend of prioritizing polish over rushed schedules.
"We worked with some incredibly talented contributors, and releasing the game before it was ready would not do justice to their efforts," the developer said in a statement.
Exciting Gameplay Innovations
With its new trailer, Toree Saturn showcases notable gameplay enhancements.
Players will guide the titular double-jumping bird through linear, speed-driven levels, emphasizing smooth movement, enemy evasion, and star collection.
Key new features include a mid-air ground dash, enabling players to descend rapidly and gain momentum upon landing, as well as a homing technique on special stars for vertical and movement boosts.
The latest entry also boasts a revamped art style—a blend of late ’90s 3D influences and the vibrant sensibilities of the early Y2K era.
Siactro notes that the art direction builds upon previous series entries while introducing fresh, energetic visuals.
Ease of play is at the heart of Toree Saturn’s controls, with the gameplay now streamlined to consolidate most actions under the jump button.
The right trigger—now mainly used for the new ground dash—frees players from holding an additional run button, making the experience more comfortable and accessible across all platforms, whether using a Nintendo Switch controller or keyboard and mouse.
A Key Date for Fans of the Toree Series
Having initially launched a demo alongside the game’s announcement in September 2023, Siactro has steadily maintained a dialogue with the community via Nintendo Direct-style updates and Steam news posts.
Now, with Toree Saturn’s release date locked for August 8, 2025, anticipation among fans of indie games and 3D platformers continues to build.
Players can look forward to experiencing this vibrant adventure on both the current Nintendo Switch and the new Switch 2 hardware, as well as PC via Steam.
