Description

Indie developer Siactro has officially announced that Toree Saturn, the latest installment in the beloved Toree franchise, will launch on the Nintendo Switch via the eShop on August 8, 2025.

Renowned for its nostalgic retro 3D platforming and distinctive art style, the Toree series continues to charm players with fast-paced, accessible gameplay and creative level design. Toree Saturn expands upon the series' established formula, delivering a new adventure starring its iconic round bird character—decked out in signature sunglasses and a backpack.

Players can expect a variety of novel features for this entry, from revamped controls to additional movement mechanics designed to enhance speedrunning and replayability on Nintendo’s popular hybrid hardware. According to Siactro, Toree Saturn’s updated gameplay is intentionally approachable, allowing players to jump right into the action.

The main objective remains straightforward: dash through a series of linear, colorfully themed levels from start to finish, collecting optional stars, evading enemies, and seizing momentum-boosting speed pads.

The developer highlights the simplicity of Toree Saturn’s design, stating that simply running and jumping is all that’s needed to achieve high scores and rankings on each stage. However, this latest release introduces two new core moves: a mid-air ground dash that enables Toree to descend rapidly and gain a burst of speed upon landing, and an enhanced ability to home in on special stars for additional height and movement boosts.

This evolution of the game’s mechanics provides veterans and newcomers alike with fresh ways to approach levels and challenge their best times. Players will also notice a marked improvement in controls.

Siactro notes that Toree Saturn removes the need for a dedicated run button, streamlining actions so that most movement can be performed with the single jump button.

The more dynamic ground dash is now mapped to the right trigger, making the platforming experience more intuitive and user-friendly for Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con and Pro Controller. Visually, Toree Saturn draws from the late '90s and early Y2K aesthetic, with vibrant polygonal environments that feel both retro and modern.

The soundtrack complements this look, featuring energetic tunes inspired by that era’s iconic video game music. Toree Saturn will be available exclusively as a digital download on the Nintendo Switch eShop, launching at just $4.99.

This entry builds on Siactro’s reputation for delivering quality retro-themed games at budget-friendly prices, cementing the developer’s status in the indie 3D platformer scene. With its August 8 release, Toree Saturn is set to provide both nostalgic pleasure and fresh excitement for fans of the genre.
