In an ambitious move to bridge classic gaming with modern hardware, Tassei Denki and parent company Dashine Electronics have officially announced the GAIME light gun system—an innovative, AI-enhanced controller designed to make legendary arcade titles like Time Crisis, Point Blank, Steel Gunner, and Steel Gunner 2 accessible on today’s flat-screen displays.

The GAIME light gun is set to launch on Kickstarter at 12 noon EST on June 24th, 2025, aiming to deliver a seamless plug-and-play experience for retro gaming enthusiasts. Traditionally, beloved arcade shooters like Namco’s Time Crisis were restricted to older hardware, specifically CRT televisions compatible with PlayStation’s G-Con controllers.

Modern solutions have been scarce or technically demanding, leaving many fans longing for the authentic light-gun experience.

The GAIME system, however, promises to sidestep these barriers by using proprietary technology featuring a high-resolution camera and AI algorithms.

According to the official statement from Tassei Denki, the AI-driven system “automatically recalibrates as you move or change angles and distance, requiring no complex setup or calibration.

It’s designed for true plug-and-play simplicity, letting you jump straight into gameplay.” To celebrate this revival, Tassei Denki has secured global licensing from Bandai Namco to include a custom-licensed version of Time Crisis, based on the iconic System 22 arcade ROM.

This approach ensures a faithful recreation of the original experience and preserves the high-octane gameplay that made Time Crisis a household name.

Furthermore, the inclusion of additional classics like Point Blank, Steel Gunner, and Steel Gunner 2 broadens the package’s appeal for all fans of rail shooters and retro games. The GAIME light gun system will be offered in several packages.

The base $89.99 edition includes the main unit and gun controller.

A deluxe package, priced at $119.99, adds a pedal controller—essential for that authentic Time Crisis feel—alongside additional bonus items.

Early bird Kickstarter backers can look forward to exclusive perks like a unique keychain and discounted pricing.

Tassei Denki will also debut the GAIME system at Bellesalle Akihabara on March 15th, providing fans a chance to see the hardware in action before its fall release. In a recent statement, Tassei Denki emphasized its commitment to revitalizing classic gaming peripherals: “Specialized controllers such as racing wheels and fight sticks are thriving, but light guns have nearly vanished from the modern games room.

Our goal with GAIME is to restore light-gun games to their rightful place in gaming culture.” GAIME aims to eliminate the technical hurdles of infrared sensors and complicated setups, offering intelligent self-calibration that ensures high accuracy and responsiveness across a variety of distances, perspectives, and screen sizes—even when angled or tilted.

Promotional footage and hands-on demos suggest the system lives up to its promise of accuracy and ease of use, delivering a “gameplay experience as exhilarating as back in the old days.” The GAIME Kickstarter launch marks a major step in rejuvenating light gun arcade shooters for the Nintendo Switch generation and beyond, reaffirming Tassei Denki and Dashine Electronics’ roles as innovators in retro gaming technology.
