Brazilian Indie Developer Pedro "PVic" Victor Unveils First PC Demo for Artius at SAGE 2025
As part of this year's Sonic Amateur Games Expo (SAGE) 2025, Brazilian indie developer Pedro "PVic" Victor has released the highly anticipated first PC demo of Artius.
This new momentum-based platformer draws heavy inspiration from genre staples such as Pizza Tower, Antonblast, and Sonic the Hedgehog, promising a fast-paced and vibrant gaming experience for dedicated platformer fans.
A Comprehensive Demo Experience
The debut demo, now available for download on GameJolt, features a complete stage divided into three acts along with a tutorial section.
Players can choose between four main protagonists – Pierre, René, Walter, and Guga – each possessing unique abilities to smash, kick, and slam their way through the bustling city of Rupestrine.
This demo offers a glimpse into the energetic and chaotic gameplay style that is quickly becoming a hallmark of Artius, demonstrating both the developer’s passion and keen grasp of fast platforming mechanics.
PvIc’s latest project stands out thanks to its strikingly colorful, Game Boy Advance-inspired visuals and dynamic, cartoon-infused action sequences, which allow players to bounce, swing, and grind across diverse environments.
Having previously worked on well-known Sonic fan games such as Dr.
Robotnik's Badnik Quarrel and contributed to the acclaimed 2024 platformer Antonblast, Victor brings a seasoned approach to the indie development scene with Artius.
Narrative Focused on Creativity and Adventure
The story unfolds with an engaging opening cutscene, introducing a legendary group of artists who enclose their magical powers within the pages of a mystical art book.
Artius’ four main characters — art academy students — are chosen to inherit pages from this book as recognition for their artistic achievements.
However, the narrative takes a twist when a rival student, Pivolo, seizes the book and threatens to conquer the city using its enchantments.
This inciting incident brings the game's heroes together, embarking on a quest to thwart Pivolo's creations and preserve creative freedom in Rupestrine.
Developer Insights and Community Reception
According to Pedro Victor, Artius aims to let players "embody four unique artists fighting to preserve creativity in a world on the verge of artistic extinction." The game is intentionally designed for fans who appreciate high-speed 2D platforming as well as those who enjoy cozy hub worlds and creative, experience-driven gameplay.
While Artius is still in its pre-alpha phase, early feedback has been positive, with many praising its energetic gameplay and distinctive art style.
Release and Availability
Although specific platforms and release dates have not yet been announced, the development team has targeted PC for its initial launch, with the playable demo available via GameJolt.
Players and enthusiasts can follow development updates through PVic's official channels on GameJolt, Twitter/X, and BlueSky, ensuring they remain informed about this promising indie title.
Artius is already generating buzz among those who admire inventive platformer experiences, and its presence at SAGE 2025 marks a significant milestone for Pedro Victor and the broader indie game development community.
