Kaiyodo Unveils Classic Ninja Gaiden Ryu Hayabusa Figure Inspired by NES Original

Kaiyodo and Koei Tecmo Collaborate on Classic Ninja Gaiden Ryu Hayabusa Figure for Collectors Japanese toy manufacturer Kaiyodo has officially announced its next collaboration with renowned video game developer Koei Tecmo — a collectible figure centered on the iconic Ryu Hayabusa, reimagined in his original 8-bit glory from the classic Ninja Gaiden title for the Famicom/Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Kaiyodo's "Revoltech Amazing Yamaguchi" series has established a reputation among gaming enthusiasts and collectors for delivering detailed and highly articulated figures inspired by beloved video game characters.

Previous releases have featured modern interpretations of Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden II and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, as well as figures depicting characters like Ayane and Kasumi from Ninja Gaiden 3.

This latest addition marks a return to the franchise's roots, drawing directly from the iconic artwork and pixel-inspired design of the original game that debuted on the Famicom in 1988 (and subsequently the NES in 1989). The collaboration was initially teased at the Shanghai Wonderfest, where Kaiyodo showcased a grey prototype of the retro Ryu Hayabusa figure.

The fully painted version, now revealed to the public, features Hayabusa in a dynamic crouching pose as he prepares to unsheath his katana—paying homage to the character's early video game appearance that has become legendary among retro gaming fans. A representative for Kaiyodo shared that additional information regarding the new figure, including its retail price and accessory lineup, will be disclosed in the near future.

The company has further confirmed that this collectible will be made available for purchase worldwide, making it accessible to both domestic and international fans. Ninja Gaiden has long held a place in the pantheon of classic action platformers.

Developed originally by Tecmo (now Koei Tecmo), the series is renowned for its challenging gameplay and memorable protagonist, Ryu Hayabusa.

The franchise debuted on the Famicom/NES, where it achieved critical and commercial success, leading to numerous sequels and appearances across a variety of Nintendo and third-party platforms.

Kaiyodo’s commitment to authenticity and detail has resonated with both gamers and collectors, and the latest announcement reflects the enduring legacy of Ninja Gaiden within the Nintendo and wider gaming communities.

As fans eagerly await further details from Kaiyodo, the anticipation for new, nostalgia-driven merchandise continues to highlight the important intersection of video game history and contemporary collectibles.
