The season brings back the spirit of Deckard Cain — described by the team as a lost soul walking Sanctuary — and adds new seasonal gameplay including the Echoes of the Prime Evils.
Players will confront echoes of Mephisto, Baal and Diablo in recreated battlegrounds such as the Worldstone Chamber, the Durance of Hate and the original Tristram Cathedral.
Completing these challenges lets players acquire a Splinter of Evil tied to one Prime Evil and pursue reputation tracks that grant powers tied to that entity, while drawing its attention.

A major feature this season is Waking Nightmares, a series of dungeons that recreate epic battles and encounters from Diablo I, Diablo: Hellfire, II, III and Diablo Immortal with updated visuals.
