Pixel Arcadia Retro Showcase: Pixel Helix Announces Digital Retro Games Event Ahead of Gamescom

Pixel Helix, a retro game marketing company, has announced Pixel Arcadia, a dedicated digital showcase for retro, retro-inspired and classic games.

Scheduled to broadcast on 24th August 2026 at 20:00 CEST / 19:00 BST / 14:00 EST / 11:00 PST, Pixel Arcadia will air in the run-up to Gamescom and is billed as a complementary event that places heritage gaming at the centre of one of Europe’s busiest weeks in the industry calendar.

The event’s public release describes Pixel Arcadia as “an authentic show for retro, retro-inspired and classic games,” and says the programming will focus on independent retro projects, major classic revivals and video-game preservation.

Pixel Arcadia promises exclusive new title announcements alongside deep-dive developer insights and commentary, intentionally moving away from rapid-fire trailer reels toward more contextual storytelling that foregrounds video game history.

Pixel Helix CEO Al Hibberd framed the showcase as a platform that honours both the pioneers of gaming and the future of iconic franchises.

He explained that Pixel Arcadia will create a space where retro fans and developers connect directly, and where sponsors who share the event’s editorial aims help preserve developers’ resources for production rather than marketing.

In his words, the goal is to ensure every project receives "the time, respect and storytelling it deserves," giving creators a focused forum to discuss development and preservation in depth.

For developers and publishers, Pixel Arcadia aims to provide substantive coverage and contextual interviews rather than brief promotional clips.

For audiences, the program is positioned to appeal to those interested in the history and evolution of video games across platforms, including modern ports and revivals that appear on contemporary hardware such as the Nintendo Switch and on digital storefronts like the eShop.

Pixel Arcadia’s emphasis on preservation and editorial storytelling places it among industry showcases that prioritise historical context.

With its scheduled broadcast ahead of Gamescom, Pixel Arcadia will be a targeted event for retro gaming enthusiasts, developers working on classic revivals, and observers tracking preservation efforts in the games industry.
