Originally released in 2006 for Xbox 360 and Windows (and later for PlayStation 3), Oblivion is widely regarded as a landmark title in open-world role-playing games.
The remastered release promises updated visuals, refined gameplay, and the full story experience for both returning players and newcomers.
Bethesda has confirmed that pre-orders are now available for all versions.
The studio says the remaster is built to take advantage of Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, including motion-control support designed for the platform.
What’s included: editions and DLC
- Standard Edition (Digital): full base game plus the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine story expansions, and additional downloadable content including Fighter’s Stronghold, Spell Tomes, Vile Lair, Mehrune’s Razor, The Thieves Den, Wizard’s Tower, The Orrery and the Horse Armor Pack.
- Deluxe Edition (Digital): everything in the Standard Edition plus unique digital Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon armor, weapons and horse armor sets.
For players who already own the digital base game, Bethesda will offer a Deluxe Edition upgrade that provides access to the new quests and the unique Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon item sets; the base game is required and sold separately.
Rewritten promotional language in journalistic terms: Bethesda describes the remaster as delivering “updated visuals and refined gameplay” alongside the complete Oblivion story, and notes specific enhancements to utilize Nintendo Switch 2 features such as motion controls.
The publisher frames the release as both a return to Cyrodiil for long-time fans and an accessible entry point for new players.
Availability and platform notes
The release is confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 and digital editions will be offered via the platform’s storefront.
