Oblivion Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2 has moved from a limited code-in-a-box plan to a full on‑cart physical release, and Bethesda marked the launch by distributing a Cyrodiil-themed collector’s box to press.

The remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion—originally developed by Bethesda Game Studios—has been a notable addition to Switch 2’s early library following the studio’s announcement earlier this year.

Background and release

Bethesda initially indicated that its Switch 2 ports, including Oblivion Remastered, would be issued as boxed codes.

Four months after that announcement, the studio reversed course and confirmed a proper on‑cart physical release, scheduled to launch in August.

To commemorate the launch, Bethesda sent media outlets a promotional Cyrodiil box packed with themed merchandise.

What’s in the collector’s box

The promotional set includes four map art cards, acrylic character standees (notably an Adoring Fan piece), a hanging art plate, a metal Akatosh collectible, a Sweet Roll plush, and the physical Nintendo Switch 2 cartridge.

The Akatosh metal piece carries an engraved blessing invoking Akatosh’s power, presented as a decorative keepsake.

The Sweet Roll plush was highlighted as a standout item in the package, while the cartridge was notable for appearing as a standard Switch 2 cart without the small key symbol seen on some developer samples.

Critical reception and platform context

In its review, Nintendo Life gave Oblivion Remastered an 8/10, calling the package strong value and recommending it to players who want to experience or revisit Cyrodiil.

The outlet also noted that the release exhibits some performance issues at launch, even as it delivers substantial content for the price.

The on‑cart physical edition adds a traditional retail option for collectors and Switch 2 owners who prefer cartridges to digital eShop purchases.

As Oblivion Remastered arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 this August, Bethesda’s collector packaging underscores the studio’s push to support the platform with tangible releases and branded merchandise for fans of the franchise.
