Tales of Xillia 2 Remaster Confirmed by Bandai Namco: Update from Series Producer

Bandai Namco has reaffirmed its commitment to reviving classic entries in the acclaimed Tales series, officially confirming that a remaster of Tales of Xillia 2 is in active development.

This news follows a series of successful remastered releases from the iconic RPG franchise and arrives as Tales of Xillia Remastered readies its Nintendo Switch debut next Thursday. Tales of Xillia 2, originally launched for PlayStation 3 in 2012 (Japan) and 2014 (globally), was lauded for its branching narrative and improved battle system, quickly becoming a fan favorite.

Despite demand, the title has not yet received the remastered treatment—until now.

In a recent interview with Famitsu, Tales series producer Yusuke Tomizawa provided crucial insights into the future of the franchise's remaster projects. "We've assembled a dedicated team alongside several development partners to handle these remasters, with more than two titles currently progressing at different stages," Tomizawa stated, emphasizing the studio’s ongoing strategy.

"Our aim in 2025 is to have announced and released titles such as Tales of Graces F and Tales of Xillia.

However, the timeline for additional remasters, including Xillia 2, will depend on development progress.

We are committed to delivering as many remastered games as possible to our fans, as quickly as we can." When pressed for specifics on the release cadence of upcoming remasters, Tomizawa hinted that announcements for future projects are on the horizon: "While we can't share every detail yet, a new remaster project will be revealed fairly soon." Speaking directly about Tales of Xillia 2, Tomizawa clarified the team's philosophy: "Our policy is to announce and release remasters as soon as they are finished, prioritizing speed.

Tales of Xillia 2 remains in development, and although we are not ready to announce a release at this moment, we are committed to providing updates as soon as possible." The anticipation for Tales of Xillia Remastered is building as it arrives on Nintendo Switch next week, bringing new features and quality-of-life improvements to both longtime fans and newcomers.
