The data, compiled and reported by Famitsu and shared by outlets including Nintendo Life, highlights a busy week for multi-platform releases across Nintendo's Switch 2 and Sony's PlayStation 5.
On the software side, Tales of Eternia Remastered captured first place on the charts with 17,911 physical sales in its opening week on the Switch 2 SKU.
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse followed closely in second with 15,630 physical sales on Switch.
Multi-platform performance pushed both franchises to occupy five of the top ten slots when PS5 sales are included: the Tales remaster sold an additional 14,003 on a second Switch SKU and 10,390 on PS5, while Castlevania added 7,621 units on PS5.
Other notable entries included Rhythm Heaven Groove holding steady in fourth with 13,084 weekly sales and crossing 1.09 million lifetime sales, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve posting 5,834 weekly PS5 sales, and the Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] sliding to eighth with 5,404 Switch 2 units this week.
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream rounded out the top ten with 5,221 and 5,212 units respectively.
Nintendo Life observed that the Japanese hardware charts remain largely unchanged, with the Switch 2 continuing to dominate weekly console sales.
Famitsu's hardware breakdown shows Switch 2 at the top with 21,854 units sold during the period and a lifetime total of 6,430,827.
Sony's PlayStation 5 Digital Edition accounted for 10,392 weekly units, and when combined with PS5 Pro and other PS5 SKUs the family totaled 10,667 units for the week.
Other Nintendo hardware SKUs — including the OLED model, Lite, and the original Switch — contributed to Nintendo's broader install base across different SKUs.
These Famitsu figures provide a clear snapshot of Japan's retail market for the week of 12th–18th Oct, confirming strong demand for recent remasters and franchise releases while underscoring the Switch 2's continued lead in weekly hardware sales.
