Bandai Namco has published technical details for Tales of Eternia Remastered on both Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch, clarifying frame rate and resolution targets ahead of the game's October 16, 2026 release.

The remaster brings the classic 2D RPG to modern hardware with updated options and quality-of-life features while preserving core systems like the Aggressive Linear Motion Battle System (A-LMBS).

Performance and visuals

Bandai Namco confirms that Tales of Eternia Remastered targets a maximum of 60 frames per second on both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

The publisher notes that the frame rate can temporarily fluctuate depending on gameplay conditions and environmental complexity, and that these fluctuations are not specific to Nintendo hardware but may occur across platforms.

In terms of resolution, the company states that the Nintendo Switch 2 version will run at 4K when docked and 1080p in handheld mode.

The Nintendo Switch version is listed as 1080p when docked and 720p in handheld mode.

Gameplay and features

Tales of Eternia Remastered updates the original title while retaining its narrative and combat identity.

The story follows Reid Hershel and Farah Oersted from the Inferian village of Rasheans as they meet the mysterious Meredy and uncover a threat called the "Great Fall" that imperils Inferia and Celestia.

Players will harness elemental spirits known as the Greater Craymels and engage in fast-paced 2D combat using the A-LMBS, which supports diverse Arte usage, combos, and coordination among party members.

The remaster also adds multiple quality-of-life options: destination markers, an option to disable enemy encounters, a high-speed mode for auto-battle, and toggles for graphics and sound effects that let players switch between enhanced presentation and a more nostalgic experience.

Series context

Tales of Eternia Remastered is noteworthy as the first of the recent Tales remasters to receive a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 build.

Previous remasters—Tales of Berseria Remastered and Tales of Xillia Remastered—were released for Nintendo Switch, with Xillia arriving at the end of 2025 and Berseria earlier this year.

Bandai Namco’s technical disclosures give fans and retailers clear expectations for performance and display across both Switch generations ahead of the October 16, 2026 launch.
