Tales of Eternia Remastered Confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch — Release Date and Features

Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially announced that Tales of Eternia Remastered will launch for both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch worldwide on 16 October 2026, available at retail and digitally via the Nintendo eShop.

The release is the latest entry in the publisher’s Tales of Remastered Project and brings the classic JRPG to Nintendo’s current and next-generation hybrid platforms.

Tales of Eternia first debuted on the original PlayStation in November 2000 and later received a port to the PlayStation Portable in March 2005.

This remastered edition aims to modernize the experience while preserving the core narrative and gameplay that made the title a standout in the series.

In a press release, the publisher described the remaster as an invitation to revisit an expansive adventure set across two divided worlds, Inferia and Celestia.

The statement summarized the story as following protagonist Reid Hershel and his friend Faran Oersted after they meet a mysterious girl who speaks an unknown language; as they investigate her identity, they uncover a looming catastrophe known as the “Great Fall,” a collision between worlds that threatens both realms.

Bandai Namco also outlined several quality-of-life and gameplay enhancements intended to modernize the title.

The remaster includes destination icons to improve navigation, an option to disable random enemy encounters, and a high-speed mode for auto-battle sequences.

Players can also toggle between updated remastered visuals and sound and the original game’s presentation, allowing for a tailored experience that honors the source material.

The announcement confirms both physical and digital availability on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, with the Nintendo eShop listed as the platform for digital distribution.

With a confirmed 16 October 2026 release date, fans of the series and JRPG collectors can plan for a cross-generation launch.

Alex Seedhouse, a long-time Nintendo specialist whose coverage spans multiple console generations, contributed reporting to the announcement.

His experience covering Nintendo hardware and software provides context for how the remaster fits into the broader Tales lineup and Nintendo’s platform strategy.
