Tales of Berseria Remastered: Switch Performance, Resolution, and Platform Details Revealed

Bandai Namco’s beloved action RPG, Tales of Berseria, is set to debut in remastered form on the Nintendo Switch next month, bringing the acclaimed 2016 adventure to a new audience of players.

Originally released for PlayStation 4 and PC, Tales of Berseria has established itself as a standout title within the storied Tales series, celebrated for its narrative depth, fast-paced combat, and distinct anime-inspired aesthetics.

With the upcoming Nintendo Switch release, Bandai Namco continues its efforts to expand its renowned JRPG catalog onto Nintendo’s versatile hardware following last year’s successful launch of Tales of Xillia Remastered on the platform. According to the official details provided by Bandai Namco, Tales of Berseria Remastered on Nintendo Switch will target a frame rate of 30 frames per second (fps).

The publisher clarified that the frame rate "may temporarily vary depending on gameplay situation and system environment," reflecting the realities of adapting a graphically rich title to the Nintendo Switch’s hardware capabilities.

This performance target mirrors the technical approach used in previous Tales remasters for Switch, such as Tales of Xillia Remastered, which also ran at 30fps both docked and in handheld mode. Resolution-wise, players can expect Tales of Berseria Remastered to deliver crisp visuals with a display output of 1920 x 1080 pixels when played in TV or docked mode on the Nintendo Switch.

In handheld mode, the game will run at 1280 x 720 pixels, ensuring a balance between clarity and smooth performance.

Meanwhile, other versions of Tales of Berseria Remastered, including those for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, will feature enhanced frame rates of 60fps and support for resolutions up to 4K, leveraging the more powerful hardware of those platforms. In a notable update, Bandai Namco has confirmed ongoing compatibility testing for Tales of Berseria Remastered on both the Nintendo Switch Lite and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

This step demonstrates the publisher's commitment to a seamless gameplay experience across the expanding Nintendo hardware ecosystem.

While specific details regarding potential upgrades for the Switch 2 version have not yet been made available, Bandai Namco has indicated that further information will be shared as it becomes available. The trend of remastering classic Tales entries for the Nintendo Switch has resonated with long-time fans and newcomers alike.

The October release of Tales of Xillia Remastered on Switch, which adopted a similar technical profile to Berseria’s forthcoming port, garnered positive reception for maintaining core gameplay quality while optimizing for Nintendo’s handheld-console hybrid. With Tales of Berseria Remastered scheduled for release next month on the Nintendo Switch—available via the Nintendo eShop and retail channels—Bandai Namco continues to strengthen its presence on Nintendo’s current and future platforms.

As always, fans are encouraged to stay tuned for any additional announcements concerning upcoming enhancements or platform-specific features as the release date approaches.
