Description

Take-Two Interactive has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Nintendo platform, with hints of future engagement for the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2.

The confirmation came during the company’s latest financial results announcement, where CEO Strauss Zelnick provided insight into Take-Two’s longstanding relationship with Nintendo and their approach to bringing games to the company’s consoles.

Over the years, Take-Two Interactive—a publisher known for blockbuster franchises like Grand Theft Auto, NBA 2K, BioShock, and Borderlands—has gradually expanded its Nintendo catalog.

Notable releases on the Nintendo Switch platform include Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy, L.A.

Noire, NBA 2K, Borderlands Legendary Collection, and the BioShock series, illustrating the publisher’s growing presence on Nintendo hardware.

During the recent investor call, Zelnick articulated that "Take-Two has sustained a productive partnership with Nintendo, opting to support their platforms where each game release was best suited.” He noted that there was a time when Nintendo’s platforms primarily targeted a younger demographic, which was reflected in Take-Two’s more selective release strategy.

However, the current Nintendo Switch—a device boasting records for widespread appeal—changed that dynamic.

“With the current Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2, these consoles are capable of serving a broad audience,” Zelnick stated.

He referenced the recent launch of Civilization 7 on Switch, further signifying the platform’s ability to accommodate diverse game genres and player bases.

While declining to disclose specifics regarding future releases for the Nintendo Switch 2, Zelnick affirmed, “While there are no particular announcements yet, it’s fully expected that Take-Two will continue to support Nintendo Switch.” Take-Two’s growing portfolio on Nintendo Switch has mirrored the platform’s popularity.

The hybrid console has shipped over 125 million units worldwide since debuting in 2017 and consistently attracts top publishers like Take-Two to the eShop.

As the gaming industry anticipates more details on Nintendo Switch 2, developer and publisher comments underscore both the commercial opportunity and the broader demographic appeal of Nintendo’s upcoming hardware. In related industry news, Electronic Arts (EA) also addressed investor questions this week about Nintendo Switch 2, echoing Take-Two’s broad support while hinting at potential appearances from popular brands such as EA Sports FC and Madden NFL.

These statements from leading third-party publishers indicate Nintendo Switch 2’s strong prospects as a competitive, universally appealing platform for the next wave of gaming experiences.
