Kingdom Loop Announced for Nintendo Switch 2: Strategic Roguelike Deckbuilder Arrives After PC Launch

Ultimate Games, in partnership with RootGame, has officially revealed Kingdom Loop for Nintendo Switch 2.

This highly anticipated strategic roguelike will first launch on PC in the first half of 2026, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version confirmed to follow.

The announcement solidifies Ultimate Games and RootGame’s commitment to bringing innovative indie experiences to both PC and next-generation Nintendo hardware. Set in a rich medieval fantasy world, Kingdom Loop fuses deckbuilding mechanics with classic turn-based strategy, creating a challenging and ever-evolving gameplay loop.

Inspired by acclaimed titles such as Loop Hero, the game places players in a tumultuous era where humans and undead vie for control of the legendary Grail.

An ancient prophecy warned that the Grail's discovery would end death and usher in a new age for humanity.

However, the fulfillment of this prophecy led to unforeseen chaos, as the deceased returned from the grave, creating conflict between the living and the undead. Players embark on a quest for the Grail, selecting a hero from either the human or undead factions—each offering distinct playstyles, abilities, and paths to victory.

Every journey unfolds along a ring-shaped road encircling the Grail Temple, where over 200 unique tile types can be placed, each introducing new effects and challenges.

As adventurers complete laps around the temple, enemy strength increases, compelling players to constantly adapt strategies and optimize their decks for greater challenges ahead. Kingdom Loop also features expansive kingdom management systems.

Players must gather resources from surrounding forests and mountains, construct fortresses to grow their armies, overcome enemy strongholds, and discover powerful synergies through tile combinations.

This dynamic environment rewards growth and encourages mastery, while also escalating the difficulty as adversaries become more formidable. Deckbuilding is central to the Kingdom Loop experience.

Success in battles and wise use of gold enable players to acquire and enhance cards, with shops exclusively offering cards presently in a player's deck.

After each completed loop, a random card can be added, allowing for highly customized strategies tailored to each playstyle and challenge. Each faction boasts an arsenal of over 20 distinctive units, with heroes, their unique skills, and equipment shaping the development of elite armies.

Tactical choices come to the forefront during fast-paced turn-based battles—where the selection and positioning of troops, as well as target prioritization, determine the flow of combat.

Equipment and special artifacts further empower armies, granting potent bonuses and effects that can turn the tide of battle. Ultimate Games and RootGame have not only focused on gameplay depth but also on replayability and strategic flexibility, ensuring that each run offers fresh opportunities and challenges.

With the Nintendo Switch 2 supporting an expanding roster of strategy and roguelike titles via the eShop, Kingdom Loop is positioned as a standout addition for genre fans seeking deep mechanics and strategic variety.
