Resident Evil Requiem Achieves Six Million Sales Milestone: Fastest-Selling Entry in Franchise History

Capcom's Resident Evil Requiem Sets Franchise Record, Surpasses Six Million in Sales Capcom has announced a new milestone for its acclaimed survival horror series: Resident Evil Requiem has officially sold over six million units worldwide.

This achievement marks the fastest pace at which any entry in the Resident Evil franchise has reached such impressive figures, cementing Requiem as a standout success for the Japanese developer and publisher. Resident Evil Requiem, released on February 27, 2026, quickly gained traction among fans and critics alike.

The game sold over five million copies within its first week on the market, demonstrating significant early demand.

In the subsequent two weeks, an additional one million units were sold, maintaining momentum and ensuring continued strong sales.

This robust performance places Requiem as the eighth best-selling title in the Resident Evil series, according to Capcom’s official records.

It currently sits between Resident Evil 5, which has achieved 10 million units sold, and the Resident Evil remake, with 5.10 million units. In response to this rapid success, game director Koshi Nakanishi confirmed that Capcom is actively developing a story expansion for Resident Evil Requiem.

Though details remain under wraps for now, Nakanishi assured players that more information will be revealed soon.

Additionally, Capcom plans to introduce a dedicated Photo Mode in a near-future update, a feature that has become a fan favorite in many modern releases.

Players can also look forward to a new minigame slated for release in May 2026, although Capcom has yet to disclose specific details about its content. Capcom’s momentum shows no sign of slowing.

On April 17, 2026, the company is set to launch Pragmata for the Nintendo Switch 2, as well as PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

A free playable demo is currently available for Pragmata, offering players a chance to experience the new title firsthand ahead of its release. In addition to its software successes, Capcom is expanding the Resident Evil universe through merchandise.

On July 30, 2025, exclusive Grace and Leon amiibo figures will be available to purchase.

These amiibo unlock unique in-game cosmetic skins for weapons within Resident Evil Requiem, providing fans with additional customization options.
