Super Laydock Mission Striker Set for Nintendo Switch Debut via EGGCONSOLE

Super Laydock Mission Striker, the acclaimed MSX shoot 'em up from storied developer T&E Soft, is making its long-awaited console debut on Nintendo Switch via the EGGCONSOLE platform.

Retro gaming enthusiasts and shoot 'em up fans alike will be able to experience this classic title when it launches on the Nintendo eShop on December 11th, 2025, at a price point of $6.49 USD. Originally released in 1987, Super Laydock Mission Striker is the second installment in the Laydock series—a trilogy of vertically-scrolling shooters that made a significant impact on the Japanese home computer market.

Developed by T&E Soft, known for their work on Hydlide, the game landed between the original Laydock, which debuted in 1986 for MSX2, and its 1988 sequel Laydock 2: Last Attack for the MSX2+. Gameplay builds directly upon its predecessor, continuing the narrative of a Federal Space Force pilot tasked this time with dismantling the formidable Soleil, a newly constructed battle station by the Gilcen army.

Players take command of the Neo Stormy Gunner aircraft, traversing 14 action-packed stages filled with enemy squadrons and culminating in challenging boss encounters.

The core mission remains: bring the long-standing conflict to an end by eliminating the Gilcen stronghold once and for all. Super Laydock Mission Striker introduces several enhancements over the previous entry, including both ground and anti-air combat mechanics, a damage-based health system instead of traditional lives, and a streamlined leveling system that unlocks additional attacks based on enemy destruction.

Notably, the series’ signature mechanic—a docking feature—enables two-player cooperative gameplay in which players can combine their ships to amplify firepower.

In this mode, one player pilots the combined craft and directs normal attacks, while the other manages any optional weaponry, encouraging teamwork and strategic play. This Switch release marks the first time Super Laydock Mission Striker will be available on a modern console, thanks to the efforts of D4 Enterprise under the EGGCONSOLE banner.

D4 Enterprise continues to champion Japanese gaming history by bringing iconic home computer titles to new audiences.

The Nintendo Switch, with its thriving retro and indie game ecosystem, is an ideal platform for such classics, allowing fans to experience these historic games with modern convenience. With its storied legacy and innovative gameplay, Super Laydock Mission Striker offers both nostalgia for longtime series followers and a compelling challenge for new players.

Set your sights on December 11th if you plan on revisiting—or discovering for the first time—one of the MSX’s standout shoot 'em ups on the Nintendo Switch eShop.
