Nintendo has released its latest earnings report, offering a comprehensive update on hardware and software sales across its platforms.
The data shows that the Nintendo Switch continues to perform exceptionally well in the global gaming market, underscoring the ongoing relevance of the platform as it nears a significant milestone in the company's console history.
As of the reporting period, the Nintendo Switch family—which includes the original Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED models—has sold approximately 154.01 million units worldwide.
This sales figure places the Switch just behind the Nintendo DS, which holds the all-time record as Nintendo's best-selling hardware at 154.02 million units.
The near-equal sales figures suggest that the Switch is within striking distance of surpassing the DS, a landmark achievement for the hybrid console first launched in March 2017.
Despite this impressive hardware performance, Nintendo has moderated its forecast for future hardware sales.
The company has lowered its projection for Switch units to be sold in the current fiscal period from 4.5 million to 4 million.
This adjustment reflects a cautious outlook, possibly signaling the approaching end of the Switch’s lifecycle even as it maintains strong momentum.
On the software front, however, Nintendo has raised its expectations, revising projected software unit sales from 105 million to 125 million.
This increase illustrates the company’s confidence that players will continue to purchase games for Switch, capitalizing on its expansive library.
Nintendo also released an updated Top 10 ranking for Switch software.
"Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" continues to dominate as the platform's best-selling title, with 69.56 million units sold.
Other flagship franchies have maintained their positions: "Animal Crossing: New Horizons" has reached 48.62 million units, "Super Smash Bros.
Ultimate" stands at 36.93 million, and "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" records 33.34 million copies sold.
Popular entries such as "Super Mario Odyssey" with 29.84 million, "Pokémon Scarlet/Violet" at 27.61 million, and "Pokémon Sword/Shield" with 26.96 million also feature prominently on the list.
"The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom," the latest entry in the revered Zelda franchise, boasts 22.15 million units sold, while "Super Mario Party" and "New Super Mario Bros.
U Deluxe" have reached 21.23 million and 18.53 million units sold, respectively.
Beyond the Top 10, "Super Mario Party Jamboree" has already achieved 8.64 million sales, further cementing Mario's universal appeal on the console.
Nintendo's ongoing software success underscores the enduring popularity of its flagship franchises and the strength of its platform ecosystem.
With Switch hardware approaching the all-time bestseller status within Nintendo's portfolio and robust game sales driving revenue, the company's latest report highlights a remarkable chapter in gaming history and reflects Nintendo’s enduring influence in the industry.
